Battery Grade Natural Manganese Dioxide

This product is used in the manufacturing of dry-cell batteries (“Le clanché” or zinc-carbon cells) due to the depolarizer properties of this material within the continuous electric generation process inside the battery cell. Other advantages of our product are the high oxygen content with a peroxidation more than 90%, and its low content of Manganese II, Manganese III and heavy metals such as Nickel, Copper and Cobalt. These advantages are improved with mineralogical elements of high electro-chemical activity and an ideal particle size distribution which provide a high surface area. In summary, it is a unique product for manufacturing of long lasting ecological batteries, mercury-free. Our variety of different grades (N65, N67 and N70) offers to our clients a better and more flexible way of blending the manganese dioxides.

Manganous Oxide

It is used as feed additive, classified as trace mineral (E5) according to the European Parlament and the Council of the European Union. In the animal nutrition, manganese is an essential element in several physiological functions, such as their growth and the development of their bones.

In the agriculture area, it is used as raw material for the fertilizer production considering manganese as one of the 10 essential micronutrients for the vegetables. In the pharmaceutical industry, manganous oxide is used as a base product for the production of vitamins, complements and reactives for the laboratory analysis.

Also, considering the characteristic of its solubility in acids and insolubility in the water, it is used as catalyst in the chemical industry. It is also used as raw material to produce a wide class of compounds and manganese derivatives like chelates (organic compounds).
